If you’re missing one or more teeth, dental implants may be right for you. Dental implants serve as replacement tooth roots, consisting of a screw-like post and a connecting piece called an abutment that anchors your artificial tooth. Implants provide a permanent foundation for fixed or removable replacement teeth, such as dental crowns, implant bridges, or full arch dentures.
There are several types of implant restorations, such as crowns, bridges, or dentures. The implant restoration attaches to the dental implant tooth root so that your new tooth has a secure foundation that helps you smile confidently for years to come. Our Apollo Beach and Riverview dentist can help you determine which implant restoration may be best for your specific needs.
Your dental implant process will consist of a few separate appointments. During your first appointment, you’ll be given local anesthesia while the dentist makes an incision in your gums to place the implant. Over the next few months, the bone will grow around the implant in a process called osseointegration.
After osseointegration has made the implant secure, you’ll return to our office where we’ll check your progress. Next, we’ll place what’s called an “abutment” or connecting piece over the post of the implant. This is what will hold your new tooth.
When your gums have healed, you’ll come back for a custom restoration like a crown or bridge. Your dentist will place the restoration onto your implant and you’ll be good as new with a securely-fastened, natural looking tooth in place.

Book NowA single tooth implant is a simple restoration meant to replace your missing tooth easily and effectively.
Dental crowns are typically used on top of single-tooth implants as the most natural and simple treatment option.
With all-on-4 dental implants, the upper or lower set of teeth can be fully replaced with four implants. These implants act as the foundation for the placement of your new set of fixed teeth. Your new smile won't slide around or shift uncomfortably, and won't need to be removed at night to clean.
Implant-retained dentures offer more of a secure foundation than traditional dentures, replacing both upper and lower teeth with implants and then a set of removable full arch dentures. Instead of relying on friction, suction, or adhesives to remain in place, implant-retained dentures “snap” into several dental implants. Compared with traditional dentures, implant-retained dentures also boast the following benefits:
